Project 1 — Tŷ Mawr replica museum in Argentina
- RAG AMBER
- Starter task progress 17% · 2/12
- Actual museum delivery 0% · no site/build approval
- Stage Source and concept / pre-development
Develop a researched, source-graded and costed proposal for a Great House Farm / Tŷ Mawr replica museum in Argentina. Patagonia and the Puerto Madryn search area are a working concept only; no site has been selected, acquired or approved. Existing research is enough to start, but not enough to claim the museum is close to opening.
Mandate and brief
What the project must deliver
Mandate: design a cultural and educational destination using a traceable reconstruction of the Welsh house and its setting, supported by historical interpretation, a public source catalogue and learning resources.
Core products: research/design pack; room and landscape schedule; evidence-graded reconstruction; interpretive/display plan; Argentine site, permissions and operating feasibility; and a costed business case.
Independence: P1 can start now from the existing research collection. Records recovered under P2 update designs through source/version control; full records recovery is not a condition of preliminary museum work.
Scope limit: weddings, accommodation, equestrian use, wax figures and other amenities are optional proposals, each subject to its own demand, permissions, staffing and whole-life cost assessment.
Unresolved spatial inputs: 106-acre and 166-acre readings remain competing interpretations to reconcile to source documents. Neither figure establishes a required Argentine site size or boundary.

Acceptance and decision gates
No land or construction baseline yet
- Every reconstructed element links to a source or is visibly marked contextual/hypothetical.
- Site selection requires title/access, permitted use, planning, environmental constraints, services and local professional advice.
- Costs include capital, freight, staff, maintenance, insurance and contingency with dated sources and confidence ranges.
- Funding contributions count as committed only with written confirmation. Do not assume grants, tax relief or charitable status.
- The Executive receives a viable, desirable and achievable options paper before committing to a site or build.

Highlight report — 22 October 2026
AMBER · pre-development
Completed inputs: working project proposition and scope; existing historical research corpus identified.
In progress: source-confidence matrix.
Not delivered: accepted architectural/landscape plan, site shortlist with due diligence, permissions, reliable cost estimate, committed funding, supplier contracts, construction or public opening.
Next actions: finish source grading and product schedule; then propose a tightly scoped feasibility work package with no site commitment or external spend unless approved.
Decisions requested: accept or amend the task baseline and tolerances; authorise bounded desk-based work; decide when independent heritage/architectural review is needed.
Risks and dependencies
Independent work, evidence-led design
- Cost and permissions are unknown: keep all early work reversible and do not imply a site deal.
- Competing acreage readings need their original source and context retained until reconciled.
- New P2 material may materially change interpretation; log changes and version design outputs rather than silently rewriting accepted products.
- Artefact census belongs to WP-P1-02, with provenance retrieval coordinated with P2. It is not a fourth active project.
